RFID Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) with its innovation constantly changing, its adoption is still relatively new. The objective of RFID is to carry data in radio chips called tags. These RFID tags can be read from a distance with out being in line of sight, as required by the barcodes. There are two different types of Tags, the Passive Tags and the Active Tags.
The Passive Tags use the radio waves
emitted from the reader to energize itself and emit the information stored
within it.
The Active Tags have there own energy source to transmit the data stored within them. Wal-Mart and DOD (Department of Defence) are spear heading the deployment of these tags to make the supply chain management more secure and efficient. Its currently used to track shipments at the pallet and case level. In near future it is expected to be put to use at the item level. EPCGlobal is an organization that is working towards a standard that will replace the UPC barcode that are being used at the item level.
We provide RFID
kits and informative Seminars with live Demonstrations of how
this technology can be put to effective use in your operations. |
